Just added a group (members) and adding members (John, Ann etc) to my Drupal 7.8 site.
I want to give them these users the possiblity to download certain files located in a private folder. Is it possible to give users of a group access to this directory. (so not adding individual users but assign access to all users with the member role)
Suppose this shoudl be done in the htaccess file but I am not succeeding.

is this possible and what shout be done to achieve this?

I am trying to upload drupal folder in to www folder using filezilla but its showing failed transfers. Please guide me how to do so.

First, I apologize if this is the wrong category to post this in so feel free to move it if needed.

We are currently using hotdrupal for our host (and they have been excellent!) and I happened to stumble upon the subdomain module, which looks like it would be an excellent addition to our new site.

So I was wondering if anybody has had any success using that module on hotdrupal? Normally something like that wouldn't work in a shared hosting environment.

i want to run my drupal site on local host, so i download the site root folder from host and then copy it to www folder in wamp
i install DB and confige setting file to new user of DB
the first page of site run correctly an so far everything in correct
but when i click on any link to go to each page it has 404 page not fine error
i copy .htaccess file from drupal to the site folder
but then, all link redirect to localhost first page and i dont know why
please help me

I've got a Drupal install running on my server, and it keeps tripping my Mod_Security rules and therefore I keep getting locked out of my own server!
(My own fault really ;) Getting too worried out security!)

setup DRUPAL as my own webserver and I imported my new site.. I setup my router with my public static IP address and set Port Forwarding to 80.. and I assigned static IP on my machine which is 192.168.1.8 and I also edit my windows host file and added this line [127.0.0.1 www.mydomain.com] on windows/system32/divers/etc

I am not able to receive email from my site educationforumindia.net. Whenever new user is created, custom message saying mail is sent to the email address comes , but actually it is not received in the inbox of user.

I have both .co.uk and .com addresses for my domain and I am making the .co.uk my canonical domain. I have no experience of editing htaccess files so I need some assistance in getting this to work.

I'm not sure what to include in the htaccess file on the .com directory, does it just need to code to redirect or does it need more than this, should I use the drupal htaccess file and add to this?

Any assistance please would be great

We had paid someone to build a website for us with e-commerce built in, we agreed that we would upload the pics and details on each product and that we would take care of the costing and orders basically the day to day running of the site. Anyway we are now left in the position that we have no contact with the person who started our site, we need to remove the e-commerce for the time being and when we add products to certain parts of our website they duplicate!

Can anyone suggest or poiont us in the right way to getting this fixed?

I installed Acquia Drupal 7 and started a site on my local DAMP server. I put in the site name and everything and have fully created my site on my local server. However, the local url of my site is

"sitename.localhost:8082"

even though my domain/site name is correct in the administration. I already have a domain name registered and I'm getting ready to upload my site to that domain.

I downloaded and installed the message module to use the sms feature. after the install and enabling of the module the sms feature is not availible and i am not able to edit any of the templets. did i miss something in the install or do i need to install something else.

My local machine database information are username: root and no password and my database name is : database

My host sql; infromation are:

Prefix: life with sql password different to my database password
my database name is database
my database username: admin
password is admin

and I have set my configuration like:

I have 2 sites hosted with some company X for almost 2 years. They promised unlimited everything, but in the TOS there's some hidden limit of not having more tham 50,000 files.
Everything went well. I also had several other sites under dev. in different folders. Yesterday, without any warning, since Cpanel does not show this, I was told I wa violating TOS with over 200,000 files.

My Problem is, that I want to add some User-Registration-Informations.

When a user wants to register, he just can write his email und key, but i want more, such as Gender, Phonenumber, ....

So, how can I do it?

I setup an account at SiteGround to try out Drupal for a client. I signed up for a monthly account, with the intention of cancelling at the end of the period. I cancelled through the control panel on 8/6/2009, but their system neglected to send me the email requiring me to confirm. When I logged in - the cancellation portion stated a cancellation was pending. I emailed them on the renewal date after my card was charged to alert them to the issue. They refused to refund the full amount, they have a $24.95 cancellation charge + a partial month charge - we are talking hours at the most.
