For testing purposes, I've install clean drupal6 and put few string in t() in order to translate. No idea why the string does not appear in Front-End after I've installed "Content translation" module.
I want to get something straight:
Is it possible to translate strings inside t() without using String Overrides module? I would like to enable that another person can translate all strings that programmers/designers have put in module/templates.

Im pretty new with Drupal and internationalization. I recently installed and set up both on a functioning site with a gmap on some of the pages. After creating a translation for one of the pages with the gmap the translated version doesn't have the map but the original version still does. I am completely stumped how to fix it.

I had an old 6.11 site with french translation (not complete) imported. So I updated it to 6.22, then updated all my modules, upgraded core to 7.10 and updated modules to latest 7.x. Then updated french language by importing it again, it worked fine, but when I switched to english, then switched again to french it crashed.
I tried to delete french language in 6.11, then upgrading, and finally importing new language, but again the same crash. Im getting a white screen in IE and a redirection error in firefox

The default language of my site is DE, the admin language is EN. Maybe this is the source of my problem, but I am used to the English admin UI.
I have a CCK profile field labeled "AGB Akzeptieren". I figured that by declaring German as the default language, the default label should be in German.
When I search the translations for "AGB", I get hits that include this, as expected:

I have an English/French site. I've got everything working except for node/content type author/date displays. I should say everything is working except the Month and Day display portion. They are always in English.
Display author and date information.
Author username and publish date will be displayed.
IE: January should be Janvier, February should be Février, etc.

I have created profiles with taxonomy terms.
These terms are translated to.
When you visit a user in english it displays correctly.
But when you display the same user in dutch you see the dutch label but the english taxonomy term.
When you click on the term and go to that term's page its displayed in dutch.
How can i fix this?

The problem I am having is I can't format the chinese font without also formating the english font because there is no way to select between them in css. This is a particular problem with chinese characters because they need to be relatively larger to read. So i guess my question is how can add a css class to all translations...or am i missing something.

My problem is that I do not find information on how to install or import the .po files that come with the different modules. I have .po files for ctools, views, and advanced help modules, but I am not sure what to do with them.

I have on my site the spanish and english language and i need it to add the portugues language to it, the problem is that the installation wasnt done right when I added the language since when I add it drupal gave me a Internal Server Error from apache when it was at 20% of the installation of the new language, as a consecuence of it even that I erase the portuguese language I get a fatal error every time I want create content, no matter what language it is. the error I get is the following:

for some reason i cannot translate block headers on the Configuration page in the admin theme (view screenshot here). Im trying to translate from English to Estonian. The sublinks translate fine, but the headers are stubbornly English. I have tried the Localization Client, the i18n string translation thingie, even tried to translate these from the Menu > Management menu, to no effect.
It feels like string translation is the right place to do it, but it just doesnt work?

My question is: Is it possible to leave the admin area untranslatable even i am currently seeing the actual site in different language other than the default one? Just for the administrator of the site. With some module perhaps or some custom code?

Read more »I have made a very stupid mistake:
I installed the .po for another language and set that langauge as default (instead of English) even though I did not install/configure all the prerequisites. Now, each time I try to access my website, it goes into an endless loop and I can no longer access its configuration panels.
How can I reset the default language back to English? Is there any file to configure or database entry to change?
Appreciate any help you can give.

I'm running drupal 7.8 with i18n Installed for translating the site in French. English is the default language. Detection Method are set to User's Language and URL (in this order). The URL detection method uses Path Prefix as opposed to Domain. Every language including the default one (En) were given a prefix. A language switcher is used on the page to switch between languages.
Pathauto has been installed but later disabled, same for Token.

I'm new to drupal. I want to integrate language translator in my website. I enable locale, content translation, cck translation, taxonomy, string etc. But when i click the language switcher drop down box,
it is not translating. I refer some of the sites and youtube videos, There we can translate content for multiple languauges. In my site, there is no option to translate the content etc. I' m using Zen 6.x-2.1 template, please anybody help me.

When i'm on the frontpage, switching languages with language switcher works ok (got diferent nodes set up for frontpage). But when i browse to the basic page and switch languages, it switches everything but the content node itself (switching language by link below the node works right). What am I doing wrong?

Does anyone have experience using transleth.is for Drupal? I am in Vietnam and have a website which uses this, but I believe the transleth server is located in the United States. Thus, the process is quite slow. The website itself is hosted in Vietnam to provide the fastest possible service for users.
Is there any way to speed it up, such as through caching, or is there a different service that might be faster?

My problem is that some pages are in " english ", others in " spanish ", and others in " neutral language ".
I would like that all of them are " neutral language "

We are developing a metalanguage news site and we have an issue.
While browsing the site, randomly the language is switched from default (en) to other languages (ru, es, it or de), but that happens only when the site is hosted on multiserver (on the test server we don't have this problem) and only when the language is default. We save the language in cookies, so when the language is set, we also don't have that problem.
I know it is a long shot, but did anybody had this problem before ?

I use Drupal 7.9, I have a website with 4 languages, I use Internationalization module (i18n-7.x-1.1), which makes me wonderful translate of all the content (theme of the site, articles, basic pages, etc.). but it gives me problems when i trying to translate links from the main menu. From my original links (in Spanish) I translate (Edit / Translate / Add translation) and everything is saved perfectly, but translated menus appear in the main menu of my original site (in Spanish)
I have problem with domains that are used for prefixing the languages, details below:

Read more »I have a problem with a multilanguage site. I use path prefix with 'da' and 'en'. When a user makes a standard search it return results in both languages. The results in the active language link correctly using URL aliases. Results in the other language have links with wrong path prefixes and not using URL-aliases. If I click on such a link I see a page where the node content is in one language and everything else in the other language.

I got a problem with internationalization or/and it's sub-modules:
If I create a random node and set it to a language, let's say English, (it's required to set a language, dutch or english, no language neutral allowed) and view the result. The dropdown language switcher shows both languages.
If you choose the other missing translated node, for example Dutch, you get exactly the same node written in english. With some extra problems that the menu is missing.

Read more »I have a site in English with a main menu with both primary and child/secondary links as a block in the menu area. It all works fine. Now I've translated my site into Hebrew and I'm trying to set up a translated menu. I've created a new menu and called it menu-hebrew. Under structure-> menu -> settings -> hebrew I set: source for main links -> 'menu-hebrew' and source for secondary links -> 'menu-hebrew'.
I enabled it in the block area and all the primary links show but NO secondary link, I want a drop down menu like I have on the english site.
i use the locale and content translation modules.
In admin/structure/types/manage/'type' i have enabled multilingual support field 'Enabled with translation'.
In admin/config/regional/language/configure/url i choosed 'path prefix' and in admin/config/regional/language/configure i enabled URL.
but the url aliases are not working. the lang-switcher does not add the lang (for example /de) to the url.
can anybody help me please ?

I was created views listing "newsarticles". In the data field: Node: title, Node: Post date, Node: Body. In the filter: Node: Type = newsarticles, Node translation: Language = "Current user's language". When I was created content with English language then I translated to French language(title, menu link, body). The views listing translated Node: title and Node:Body is ok, but "Node: Post date' not translate. Please help me.

I designed a website with two language English and French, default is English language. With English language don't prefix, French language prefix is "fr". I create default.css file, In that I create class and ID for each Views sidebar block and Views Listing page. I stored in folder styles in my themes. I created node-name_view_listing_page.php call class or ID. When I show Views Listing page with English language the result show right class css. But when I chose French language not accept class css.
