I've run my course with an ecommerce module problem. Rather than taking the time to remove all the db tables by hand so I can install ubercart, I'm going to do a fresh install with drupal 6 (current install is 5).
Because druapl5 is installed into the document root, I'm going to install d6 as a "drupal" folder within the current installation.

I'm trying to install Drupal 6 locally on my mac and I'm running into some problems. I get to the Database Configuration section, I put in my database name ('drupal'), username ('root'), and password ('root'). I press Save and Continue and then the page just reloads.
If I enter in a different username and password, I get the correct error - "Failed to connect to your MySQL database server. MySQL reports the following message: Access denied for user 'adsfa'@'localhost' (using password: YES)."
Read more »I'm moving my Drupal site to 1&1's servers. I've downloaded the site via FTP from the old server and uploaded it via FTP to the new server. I've exported the DB from the old server using PHPMyAdmin, imported it into the new server using PHPMyAdmin, and I've updated settings.php accordingly. After some weird error about an unexpected "&" on one line of an unnecessary module was fixed, I saw my site as it should look.

when i click on the link---configure on BLOCKS page, configure option does not appear, and i see still the same page.
i have tried to deleting an reinstalling.
In the beginning the problem seemed resolved however it appeared again while i was doing minor changes.(like grab a drag-and-drop handling etc.)
Together with this the site building options do not work, clicking them leads to BLOCK building automatically.
i have searched it in drupal forums but i didn't find anything about this issue.

I've just installed Drupal6 using a postgres/postgis backend and have found the performance to be appalling, no other word for it. There is a huge difference between running on mysql and postgres - I have dual installs, everything else exactly the same so it is really obvious.
I'm not sure if this has been addressed before (and apologies if it has) but there are some serious problems realting to the indexing of the data in a postgres environment. Basically, all the indexes named "primary" in MySQL are not available in Postgres and that appears to cause problems.

I had a working Drupal install using 6.12.
I transfered the entire Drupal root and the DB dump onto another server that has other multiple Drupal sites running well on it.
When attempting to reach the Drupal home page i get
"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting ')' in $path/sites/all/modules/content_complete/content_complete.module on line 136"
What is more bizarre is on my Apache error_log i see:
" script not found or unable to stat: /$server_root/www/cgi-bin/modules"
i'm installing drupal 6.12 on shared hosting (godaddy) with php 5. im up to the part where it says "install site" which is blank and doesn't move on to creating the first user. phpmyadmin shows a populated database and if you go to whatever.com you see welcome to your new drupal site and all that, but can't log in because of course the site hasn't been configured. i already deleted everything once and started over.

Read more »I just downloaded a fresh copy of Drupal 6.12 and ran it on my local machine for the installation procedures!
It was okay until I saw a notice message telling me that mbstring is not enabled on my php installation.
Now I am running across a situation, I can't get mbstring working on windows.
On linux it's very simple, in fact I already got it installed by default.
I don't like to have a resource and not being able to use it for whatever reason it is.
Specially, I think that in the case of mbstring, which is not default to php,
We have two questions when migrating our existing Drupal site from Windows to Linux ;
1/ As we will using the same content and modules, will it be required to run the update.php ?

I'm having problem in getting rid of the promote frontpage features. All the contents I created (no matter of type story, page or whatever), it will directly promoted to frontpage. (which by default the content of type "page" shouldn't have possess this characteristics)
I've tried several ways (uncheck the promote to front page during content creation), edit the content after posting (demote from front page) and so forth. Still the contents are published in the frontpage.

I have a working installation profile that does a lot of setting up but so far I've been unable to figure out how to change a menu title in code.
By hand, it's in admin/build/menu-customize/primary-links/edit but in code, no clue and the api docs is not very helpful, nor is google.
So far, the only thing I could come up with was $items['primary-links']['title'] = 'Foo'; but that doesn't work.
When I do it by hand and trace it, it seems to call hook_menu_link_alter but I have no clue with what parameters, etc.

However, I can't find the documentation on how to access the Drupal installation pages on my browser. Any combination ending with "install.php" comes up with a 404 error. a dance studio that has dependencies in two countries with separate domains ( .ch and .de) . It needs a website that has basically the same functionality but different users and different content. (the sites would be hosted on the same server under the same account). The theme could be the same yet use different logo and backgroundimages. The content that needs to be shared can be neglected.

Read more »Hello. I've installed drupal a couple of times and played with all the settings. Made a few cck and views thing-a-ma-jigs (galleries and what-not) and noticed some erratic behavior. It seems cck and views both prefer mod_rewrite turned on for clean urls or else drupal will act like a petulant child.
I followed the directions on here for turning on mod_rewrite and sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't.

Read more »I am trying to install Drupal 6.12 on a local host. My local host was set up using MAMP and seems to be working fine. But when I try to install drupal I get to the screen that asks for the database and then it seems to hang. The database is created, I have changed permissions, changed ports to the defualts, but to no avail. If I purposfully use the wrong password I get the red box from drupal saying can't log in to MYSQl database - but when I use all the right data - the screen hangs i.e. nothing happens and I don't move on to the next screen in the installation.

Once the database was created the installation took me to the configuration page, where you create the admin login, server settings, etc. My email address was already filled in on both the site email and administrator email fields... what the hell?? how the?? can someone help? I completely cleared my WWW folder before dragging in the contents from the drupal-6.12.tar.gz directly into the WWW folder.

I am on Dreamhost and want to install Drupal. I created a directory for Drupal and created a database. Downloaded 6.12, made my settings.php file with correct database info, and uploaded it all. The Drupal install.txt file instructs to go to my base URL to run the install script, but when I do I got errors about that it couldn't find the database tables. (The database is empty).

Read more »I have installed Drupal before. I downloaded Zend CE for Mac, ran the installer. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get Drupal to run from a new folder /www/Drupal-6.1.2
So I managed to get the installer to start if I put it in the default folder of Zend. I see this as a limitation should I ever want to set up a second system.
I set up ad Database in Zend, created two entries for my user, one for %, one for localhost. I assigned all privileges.
I entered the setup information into the Drupal config file because the website wouldn't take the information.

i am trying to install Drupal on a webserver with PHP 5 enabled. I created a database with 1 user in the online hosting application (this database has a few tables with data etc.)
During the installation from /index.php I fill in the correct Database name, database username and password and click "Save and continue". Then nothing happens. In advanced options, localhost is set as Database host.
Drupal setup won't advance here!
Do I have to download MySQL and upload it somewhere?
