Thu, Dec 30, 2010 by JF

When developing in a team environment, file permissions quickly become a complex issue. Even more when using several frameworks, each one with its own permission requirements, and deploying them on different platforms. Apache on Ubuntu normally runs with user and group "www-data". On Fedora/CentOS, it runs under user and group "apache".

During the past month, I've been trying New Relic on my personal blog. New Relic is a performance management tool. It can help to monitor, debug and optimize a site. It includes features like slow page request analysis, slow database query analysis, error tracking, scalability analysis, performance alerts, weekly e-mail reports, up-time monitoring and even very specialized features like Apache Solr profiling. It's a bundle of developer goodies that can be used on live production websites.

Friendly Drupal: Drupal Development on Ubuntu with Virtualbox. Part 6: Serving Websites from Ubuntu to Windows

http://friendlydrupal.com
In the previous episodes, we've setup Ubuntu as a virtual server to work on Drupal and other projects right on Ubuntu as a guest OS.
