Diggit Drupalextras

So I have installed the Drupal site on a sub-folder so the main website can continue to run while I built it in the background. I am going to be ready soon to move it to the main root directory, and move the current web files into an archive folder. I am basically just preparing myself, does anyone have a video tutorial link or instructions on everything I need to change when I move the files from the sub-folder (mysite/CMS) to the root folder of the domain? Or any advise?

Our site has a couple of static pages in their own folders, as well as an /images folder which are used for various articles and other parts of our site not running on drupal. Drupal is up and running in our root directory, but in order to keep the root directory a bit less cluttered I want to move the drupal installation to /drupal to keep things nice and tidy.

This may sound like a dumb question, but here goes:

I have just installed my first ever Drupal site. I have added a theme etc. with no major issues.

My question is this - should my core Drupal files all reside in a folder called "drupal", which resides on the root of the public directory.

example: www.mysite/drupal

I set up a test site and tried to move the installation from the mydomain.com/dev folder to the root directory. I changed the copied the files up to the root directory and changed the base url in the settings.php file by eliminating the /dev in the domain name. No trailing slash.

I can access the main page, but when I click on the links I get a page not displayed error. Is there another step I'm missing. My host is hostgator if that helps. Not sure if there is something with their configuration.

Thoughts/help?

I'm using drupal 6.19 on apache server (123-reg).

I intially used their one click installation (I am a newby!) which installed everything in a subdirectory. However I want the site to sit in the root directory and get rid of the /drupal extension i.e. just have www.mysite.com not www.mysite.com/drupal.

i'm trying to move my drupal installation from a sub directory (called v2) to the root.

I realized that in the database file the v2/ path was found several times. So i replaced it
with the root path (/).

The site was ok , but when i logged in , and go to admin/config or to performance for clearing cache
i got an error like this :
Fatal error: Call to undefined function node_load() in /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/example_v3/includes/menu.inc on line 579
and so on.

I have to move an existing Drupal site from one server to another. I've done so by doing a mysql database export/import and copying over the files to the new server. On the new system, the root page comes up fine but if I try to go to any deeper directory levels I get a 404 Not Found Error.

so drupal.newserver.com -> works fine but drupal.newserver.com/user -> gives me a 404 and happens,same for all subdirectories

I built a new Drupal site to replace an old "hand-coded" site. I setup a new directory on my hosting provider (goDaddy) called "newwebsite/". The new Drupal site has been completed and I want to make it live.

I have a question as to the best way to do this:

i want users to go to my url www.mysite.com.au and not have to type the drupal root directory folder www.mysite.com.au/root please help me im new
