Hi all! I am trying to create a test site on the local host. I read the guidelines on creating a test site on a hosted server , however I want a test site on my local host. In other words, I want the exact replica of my production site so that I can play around with it. I am using WAMP to run the local host.

copied the DB as is
changed following settings in abc/sites/default/settings.php
$base_url = 'http://localhost/abc';
$db_url = mysql://root@localhost/test_db';
structure of the production site :
/home/abc/public_html

I've got a site up and running hosted on hostgator and I'm trying to make a local copy of it to run on WAMP on my PC.

The main page works, but all pages off it link to the WAMP configuraiton page.

These are the steps I've taken:

1 - [hosted site] back up the MySQL DB
2 - [hosted site] tar -cvf the folder with all the O/S level files

I'm trying to copy my site to a localhost, both as a backup and so I learn how to set up a local host.

I copied my entire website folder to wamp/www directory on local. I know I have to modify my settings.php file on my localhost to point to the database correctly. I downloaded my database to the root directory of my site, so it's in the same place as index.php.

When I try to load site with WAMP I get the following error:

The mysqli error was: Access denied for user 'nathansf1'@'localhost' (using password: YES).

After migrating my site from a MAMP local host onto a new WAMP local host, I’m unable to navigate beyond the front page. The front page does display the sidebar blocks as expected. When selecting a link such as new registration, my WAMP server (1.7.5) only displays the text “logo” (Garland drupal drop) and the typical localhost splash screen content. Outside the front page, I have no visibility of the typical garland theme, content, and most importantly core/custom functionality.

I have created a site in Drupal 7 on my local machine. This is my first time working with Drupal and am using the Aquia Drupal stack to run my local site.

My goal: Migrate site to my new production url
Steps taken so far:
1. Exported local DB
2. Uploaded site files to new host domain
3. Created DB on new host and imported DB exported from local
4. Changed settings.php file to point to new DB and uploaded file (overwriting the existing one)

We do have a drupal 7 site up and running at a host. I do want to take over the future development of this site and that's why I want to move it to my local Windows 7 pc for development and testing. I have wamp installed and created a database.I copied the content of "public_html" containing the drupal site to my local PC including .htaccess. I used the "backup and migrate"-module to make a copy of the content of the mysql database at the hosted site. I imported the file created by this module into my locally created mysql database and changed the "settings.php".

Hello Everyone,

I had the unfortunate experience of having my wamp server completely melt down. I backed up all of my databases and reinstalled. I reinstalled drupal, added in all of the old modules and themes and restored the old database through the backup/restore module.

Now, all of the images that I have been uploading through drupal(cck file upload) are not showing. WHen I try to upload the images, they still do not show. What can I do to fix this?

One thing I should point out that may have something to do with it:

Here are the steps i followed while migrating
=>created a database using mysqldatabases and a user->root
=>exported my database from wamp and imported in phpmyadmin
=>moved all drupal files to public_html
=>gave 777 permissions to settings.php
