Built my web site, localhost, ubuntu,Xampp, Drupal working perfectly. Signed up with AnHosting to host the site. Needed to get the site from local host to live host.
1) Exported and imported mysql database - no problem
2) copied Drupal to public folder on web site - no problem
3) Changed settings.php - no problem
4) When I clicked on my web domain I am still getting index.html message web site on the way

Here is where things get tricky

I have created a site in Drupal 7 on my local machine. This is my first time working with Drupal and am using the Aquia Drupal stack to run my local site.

My goal: Migrate site to my new production url
Steps taken so far:
1. Exported local DB
2. Uploaded site files to new host domain
3. Created DB on new host and imported DB exported from local
4. Changed settings.php file to point to new DB and uploaded file (overwriting the existing one)

I have a friend who has a Drupal site that is on a host server. She would like me to make some modifications to it. I'm just learning Drupal and figured I could export the database from the host site (and all files) and then set up a test site on my MacPro. I have already used MAMP to set up a couple of test sites and they work fine. This is however the first time trying to copy an existing site to move into my localhosting setup.

I was having lots of problems with load time (greater than 2 min or not loading at all) so I changed my host to AN Host.

I own the .net and .com so I set up the site under the .net and left the .com until I got the site moved and working.

My process: download the entire site from the .com, then ftp the download to the .net. Then I exported the database from the .com and imported to the .net database.

The .net site doesn't work. The home page comes up, but all of the linked pages are missing and give 404 errors.

I got the following reply from Midphase support:

I had a local ISP which used wireless and there were many connection problems. This was causing my site to not
be accessible a lot. I yesterday switched to Hughes Net, but Hughes net set up is not suitable for running a server. So I got a web hosting account and moved my drupal site to the new host.

The procedure was pretty straight forward:

Hello, moving Drupal 6.x over to a new host and domain name. When navigating to any page, including admin pages and the homepage, I get a Page Not Found from drupal. I am not all the experienced with drupal so any advice would be much apperciated. I tried to change the sites theme to one of the default via the variable field in the database and am still receiving the Page Not Found. I have disabled the htaccess file and still receive Page Not Found. To migrate the site I exported the database, imported it to the new host and uploaded all files.

Here are the steps i followed while migrating
=>created a database using mysqldatabases and a user->root
=>exported my database from wamp and imported in phpmyadmin
=>moved all drupal files to public_html
=>gave 777 permissions to settings.php

I have frequently moved Drupal sites around from host to host by simply doing a db export/import and tar'ing / untar'ing the /sites directory. However, I am having real trouble with one particular site. I had a development site at hostname-dev.domain and moved it to hostname.domain.
