I'm glad I wrote this module for myself.

I want to add a functionality to my drupal site and I didn't find any module that satisfy my request. I want to automatically update the permissions of a specific role when a new permission is added. Is there any known module? if not which hook can I use to capture the addition of a new permission into the permission table? thanks

example... user with role "admin" can create/edit/list users with role "some" only

I wanted to give users of a particular role the right to assign roles to users, giving these users a special status (above simple authenticated user). I thought that that's what roles are for.

But apparently it is not possible to do that without granting this role (midlevel moderators) the right to change permissions, thereby allowing them to give themselves permissions that their own role doesn't allow. Any permission. This is of course very dangerous.

Quick question - in your opinion what is the best way to give a user a permission once they've earned a certain number of points? I want users to, once they've earned 100 user points, gain the permission to create a group. Should I handle this through promoting them to a higher role or is there an easier way to grant a permission? Looking forward to discussing!
