I'm in one of those situations where I've got something working OK, but I have that "there must be a better way" feeling.
Quick summary: I'm building a new website for a college. Our admissions department has six counselors, each of whom is responsible for a region of the country (Northeast, Midwest, etc.). Each region, of course, contains several states. I'm building a "Who is my admissions counselor?" page where prospective students can select their state and it shows them the info on the counselor responsible for that state.
I want to display a hierarchical list of terms based on their popularity on the front page, the 4 most popular terms create 4 "Blocks" in the page, and each shows their 5 most popular terms, this can be cleaned up with css later:
and am very impressed with what was done with there site and there versatility. My question is in regards to the licensing. Does popular science need to post their code or is it covered under the GPL so long as no code was changed?
ideally what I would like is a way of getting what words are popular in popular search engines, like what words have been most searched for on google .com. Then have these words displayed in a block on my site, and each key word links to a search results page, from my site.
If I cant get popular words off other sites, is it possible to get a list of words that are popular on my site?
I am trying to create a most popular and least popular block using views, but from my understanding using votingapi you can only create that type for type node. Basically what I want is I created a Imagecache avatar that shows a 100x100 avatar of the users picture. I can have it show a who's new and who's online showing the picture in a block. I want to do the same thing for most popular users and least popular users. I have votingapi fivestar and fivestarextra so users can vote on users the problem is getting it into a block. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Is there a alternate to Ubercart Views? I just need a popular/best seller module for Ubercart. Ubercart Views is a pain to get popular product running. I manage to manually add CREATE VIEW query under phpmyadmin. I Enable the module and I see no popular product view. Even if the popular product block is on the right.
Ubercart View is not easy to deal with, Other modules I figure out so easily even if has poor documentation. Right now I hate that this the only module that has a popular product feature.
Right now I'm stuck with no alternatives. Do you guys know any?
Does anyone know how to make the most popular module (or any other similar module) not only show up for a specific folder but to only compare web-pages in specific folders only!?
For example I have used the most popular module and made it show only on pages such as /blog/username/*
so the module does show up on defined pages however shows the most popular links from the whole website.
I would like the user have a block showing most popular links ONLY from his own posts!
I would like to filter a query based on the url. For example: www.example.com/parts/popular | www.example.com/parts/recent.
I am implementing hook_menu to create a page for this. In the call back function, I have to decide from the url whether popular or recent was selected,
then qualify my query based on that. So my initial query is:
Hello, all! I'm attempting to enable the Popular Products view on a site that has been live and receiving orders for a while now. After I enable the block, I notice the only thing displaying is the navigation/page numbers...no products. However, in the view's live preview, it displays correctly. I'm quite confused by this, so any help would be appreciated!
I also noticed that the Popular products view seems to be based on the user's id. In other words:
