privatemsg breaks my whole site

http://drupal.org

Hi,

I've managed to get Drupal up and running on my site, and still learning my way around it. I've installed the "Advanced forum" module, and things are looking good. I started installing some additional modules, and ran into a big problem. Here's where I'm at:

- I downloaded/unzipped/uploaded (via ftp) the "privatemsg" module into sites/all/modules/privatemsg
- I downloaded/unzipped/uploaded the "ignore user" module into sites/all/modules/ignore_user
- I went into Administer / Site Building / Modules and saw the new modules listed
- I clicked their checkboxes to enable them, and clicked the "Save Configuration" button
- My browser showed a plain, white, empty page
- I went to the base URL ( (mydomain).com ), and got the same blank page. In Firefox, the View / Page Source was completely empty
- I tried my domain URL in Internet Explorer, got the same blank page
- I tried my domain URL on a different computer, got the same blank page
- In FTP, I deleted the sites/all/modules/privatemsg and sites/all/modules/ignore_user folders
- My website came back, and I could get back into my Drupal admin pages, etc.
- I re-uploaded sites/all/modules/ignore_user . Everything still works
- I re-uploaded sites/all/modules/privatemsg . Everything went poof.
- I deleted sites/all/modules/privatemsg . Everything works again.
