Will Google Traffic Come Back? Wrong DNS for Three Days, 66 Out of 81 Pages Reindexed But Traffic Down By Half. HELP!!!!!!
Our four year old web site (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) was doing very well until we changed hosting companies three weeks ago. Our DNS was inadvertantly pointed to the wrong names servers while we made the switch. The problem was corrected within three days but Google indexed the site during this time. Most of our 81 pages showed as "page not found" 404 errors, but within 17 days of the switch most of the errors resolved.
All but five 404 Errors in Google Webmaster Tools are gone (these pages need redirects due to a change in PATh), however Google has only indexed 66 out of the 81 pages in our site.
Now (three weeks later) our visitor traffic is down by 45%. We used to receive 80-90 visitors per day, now we are lucky if we get 50. Will our traffic return or has this event permanently damaged our ranking?
I should minor mention site modifications made early July before the site went down, which I doubt have contributed to the problem but I will list them anyway:
- .htaccess No Crawl/No Index code added to prevent indexing of any duplicate content
